Information Directory
Scientific Access to Telescopes is available to qualified scientists. For information regarding use of the 100-inch telescope, including fees, please contact the Observatory Director Dr. Harold McAlister.

Group tours are led by docents of the Mount Wilson Observatory Association. These tours, for which there is a modest fee, must be arranged in advance. Contact Mr. Gale Gant for more information or to schedule a tour. Tours are held in the daytime only and do not include looking through a telescope.

Public viewing through the 60-inch Telescope is available to individuals and groups. Fee and scheduling information is available here.

Requests for historic images taken at the Observatory should be directed to Dr. Dan Lewis of the Huntington Library in San Marino. Please note that the Huntington collection consists only of historical photos of telescopes, observatory buildings, astronomers, etc. and does not include images of astronomical objects.

Film shoot access to Observatory facilities is available for appropriate production companies under specific terms and guidelines. Please contact Dr. Harold McAlister for location rates and include information such as the type of film shoot (educational, commercial, entertainment, etc), the size of your film crew, number of locations at the Observatory needed for filming (indoor and outdoor), and the length of the proposed activity. Note that all production companies must also obtain a film permit from the U.S. Forest Service.
