- A Mount Wilson Star Party -

Saturday, October 26, 2013

Ticket Sales are Now Closed

Mount Wilson Observatory, in collaboration with the Los Angeles Astronomical Society and the Planetary Society invites you to attend an evening star party at the Observatory on Saturday, October 26, 2013. This is the last star party of our 2013 season. A dozen or more telescopes will be set up in the upper parking lot behind the Pavilion near the Observatory's entrance to provide views of a variety of objects visible that evening. Plan on arriving between 6:00 and 6:30 pm. Our Cosmic Cafe will be open to provide food and refreshments throughout the evening. The event will end at 10:00 pm.

A limited number of tickets is available at $5 per person. You must purchase your ticket(s) (limit 6 per purchaser) online here.

After your purchase, you will receive more instructions about entry into the Star Party. Tickets are not refundable for any reason, including cancellation due to weather. Because the Observatory is located in the Angeles National Forest, all drivers of automobiles must also purchase an additional $5 Adventure Pass as required by the U.S. Forest Service. Adventure Passes will be sold at the Cosmic Cafe. (A National Park Service annual pass satisfies this USFS requirement.)

Ticket holders are responsible for their own transportation to and from Mount Wilson. A map and driving directions can be found here. Plan on a 45-minute drive to the Observatory starting at the Angeles Crest Highway exit off I-210 at La Canada/Flintridge.

The Observatory is located at an elevation of 5700 feet and those with known cardiac and respiratory conditions may also want to consider this before purchasing a ticket.

We expect this to sell out quickly, so don't hesitate to request your ticket(s) now!
