Mount Wilson Observatory is operated by the Mount Wilson Institute under an agreement with the Carnegie Institution of Washington. The Observatory occupies lands belonging to the USDA Forest Service set aside under a long-term leasehold agreement between CIW and the USDA Forest Service. The Observatory subscribes to the USDA non-discrimination policy as expressed here.

Expert telescope miniaturist Barry Crist fabricated models of the Mount Wilson 100-inch telescope in 2011 which quickly sold out. He now has available a final batch of ten, and Mr. Crist has no plans for another issue of either the 60-inch or 100-inch miniatures, both of which are constructed to the same scale. As you can see from the photo below, the enormous 100-inch looms large over its smaller sibling! The cost of the 100-inch model is $210, including shipping and handling. Additional charges will apply for shipment outside the U.S.
In order to obtain one of the forthcoming 100-inch telescope miniatures, please send an email request and a model will be reserved in your name. All proceeds from the model sales go towards the Second Century Campaign for Mount Wilson Observatory.  |
